Anna Rucińska

Lawyer-linguist and sworn translator

A linguist, attorney, and certified translator possesses extensive expertise in instructing and translating legal content. Her proficiency in English and French enables her to specialize in translating legal, financial, and European Union documents. She holds degrees in English and French philology from the esteemed Faculty of Humanities at the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Faculty of Law and Administration at Lazarski University. Her remarkable achievements encompass co-authoring the English rendition of the Civil Procedure Code and single-handedly crafting English translations of the Criminal Code, Bankruptcy Law, and Restructuring Law. Additionally, she has served as a proofreader for the English translation of the Family and Guardianship Code. Her extensive background includes several years of work within the in-house translation departments of prominent international law firms in Poland. She has also successfully conducted language courses for translators and legal professionals and is a member of The World Law Dictionary.


TransLegal has been providing specialized Legal English services to lawyers for 20 years. Thanks to their collaboration with the University of Cambridge, they established the Cambridge English: Legal (ILEC) exam, a testament to their expertise in the field. Richard Brady

English Solicitor and Legal English Trainer

Richard Brady’s initial career was as a lawyer qualifying in 1976 and then spending 8 years as a police prosecutor in Southern England before leaving to develop his own law practice in London. In 1997 Richard re-qualified as a specialist in Finance and Insurance following his experience of running a client’s medical expenses insurance company in the Middle East. He then spent the next 7 years working in the City of London in banking and finance.


In 2005 he decided to leave the City of London and, after quickly qualifying as a teacher of English, began to travel around the world. He started to teach legal English and law in Eastern Europe to practising lawyers whom he had met through his law practice. Richard became aware of the opportunities for training and communication offered by new technology, and since 2008 he has been the head of the British Legal Centre.


Since 2005 Richard has specialized in teaching professional skills to lawyers and other executives, in many law, and audit companies in Europe and Asia, including Ernst & Young, Price Waterhouse Cooper’s, Shoenherr’s, Norr Steifenhoffer Lutz, Deloitte and Touche, Baker McKenzie, and Shalakany Law Office, as well as conducting training at legal departments of many commercial corporations in Europe and Asia. The British Legal Centre has built up a strong company presence in Brazil and Egypt and is also a partner of the Deloitte Academy of the Caucuses in Central Asia. Currently BLC courses are being integrated into the Law Degree courses of several leading Universities in the Middle and Near East.

Alexander Slonim

Canadian Solicitor and Barrister

Alexander is an experienced legal, commercial and corporate finance professional with experience in both private and public sectors. His experience in the legal field includes providing consulting services for large multinational clients at a Big Four firm and private practice work with corporate law firms focusing on commercial contracts, M&A, civil litigation, negotiations, immigration, employment/labour matters and other practice areas. Additionally, he provided multi-lingual legal research, document drafting, and advisory support to the UN Office of Legal Affairs in Vienna and UN Office of Counter-Terrorism in New York, which focused on multilateral legal treatises, parliamentary frameworks, international commercial law, litigation, and ADR methods.


He is the Founder and Principal Lawyer of Tenet Law in Canada, which leverages not only his diverse experience and unique skillset, but an international network of business professionals to provide distinctly tailored legal services to a multitude of diverse individual, corporate, and non-profit clients. His prior career expertise in corporate finance in the energy industry focused on enterprise/asset valuations, M&A, statutory interpretation, commercial deals, international fiscal/tax regimes, contract evaluation, financial analysis, negotiations, technical research, strategy development, leadership, and project management.

During this 4-week course trainees will experience the process of translating for EU institutions and consolidate their knowledge. Wbrew temu, co może sugerować tytuł, kurs „Wprowadzenie do tłumaczeń unijnych” nie jest przeznaczony wyłącznie dla zupełnie początkujących tłumaczy. Nawet osoby z doświadczeniem z pewnością znajdą tam coś dla siebie. Pamiętajmy, że w pierwszym starciu z tłumaczeniem instytucjonalnym każdy jest początkujący. 5-tygodniowe szkolenie pozwoli uczestnikom spróbować swoich sił w tłumaczeniach unijnych bądź uporządkować i uzupełnić wiedzę. Szkolenie ma charakter praktyczny, dlatego spotkania online obfitują w ćwiczenia, a między nimi jest okazja, by zmierzyć się z krótkim tekstem do tłumaczenia.

Contract and Legal Document Drafting Course

The Contract and legal document drafting seminar is an intensive training event for practising lawyers, paralegals, business people and linguists held over 2 half-day sessions. It will improve participants’ knowledge of Contract law and learn the necessary skills of writing clear, concise contracts.

The training is designed to improve the knowledge and understanding of the essential skills of drafting clear contracts and contract clauses, including guarantees, indemnities, warranties, representations and other contract terms, together with their use and effect.

The seminar includes basic legal concepts in contract law, its rights, remedies and enforceability. This intensive seminar will be delivered by an experienced British lawyer/linguist used to the multicultural, international flavour of modern business.

The seminar will cover not only the practical knowledge needed by lawyers working in international commerce but will also simulate an international contract negotiation scenario, with simulated strategy meetings, and tactical argument development. There will be numerous exercises, for the participants to work through exercises based on the material in the presentations.

All of this requires constant input from the participants to ensure they gain a solid working ability to write clear, concise contracts which achieve their objectives.
